Why practice self love

We live in a very materialistic world full of comparison and egos. Everywhere we turn, we are bombarded with messages about what we should have, what we should look like, and how we should live our lives. It's no wonder that it's so easy to get caught up in the negativity of it all. But the truth is, our self-worth should not be determined by external factors. It should come from within.

The first step to boosting our self-love is being aware that we might not be fully accepting of ourselves. This self-awareness allows us to recognize the negative thoughts and beliefs that we may have about ourselves. Once we acknowledge these thoughts, we can start to challenge them and replace them with positive ones. For example, instead of thinking "I'm not good enough," we can reframe it as "I am enough just as I am." By shifting our mindset, we can begin to cultivate self-acceptance.

The second step to boosting self-love is practicing mindfulness and staying present in the moment. Often, our minds wander to the past or the future, causing us to feel regret or anxiety. However, true peace and contentment can only be found in the present moment.

As Lao Tzu wisely said, "If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present."

By practicing mindfulness, we can catch ourselves when we drift away and bring our focus back to the here and now. This allows us to fully appreciate ourselves and the life we are living.
