Let go

Forgiveness & Letting Go

Forgiveness, at a minimum, is a decision to let go of the desire for revenge or stoking a fire of bitterness towards a person who has wronged you. It is a powerful tool that frees us from the negative emotions that keep us imprisoned. When someone hurts us, it's natural to feel anger, resentment, and pain. However, holding onto these emotions only causes further harm to our well-being and prevents us from moving forward.

Imagine carrying a heavy backpack filled with rocks. Each rock represents a grudge or resentment we hold onto. The weight of this burden not only drains our energy but also affects our relationships, mental health, and overall quality of life. By forgiving, we can release these rocks one by one, lightening the burden we carry.

Write down “I forgive [person’s name]. And I ask that you forgive me.” More than once, the name I’ve written down is my own. Forgiveness of yourself is equally important here. We often forget that we are just as deserving of forgiveness as others. We all make mistakes, and self-forgiveness is an essential step in the healing process. By acknowledging our wrongdoings and genuinely forgiving ourselves, we can find inner peace and create a foundation for self-love and growth.
